Playing video games with just your eyes!

SpecialEffect launch their first ever crowdfunding project – ‘PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES’

Our charity partners SpecialEffect aims to raise £6,000  in order to purchase one new specialist Eye Control unit. This equipment will help many people with severe disabilities to enjoy and play games, levelling the playing field and creating a better quality of life. If they raise double the amount, SpecialEffect will buy two of these amazing pieces of equipment.

Special Effect Crowd Sourcing

Eye Control technology can be particularly helpful for those suffering from locked-in syndrome, motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy amongst many others conditions. Together with the technical and medical expertise of the SpecialEffect team, Eye Control technology can not only enable people to access and play games, but assist with rehabilitation, build self-esteem and help create a better quality of life through playing games.

And here’s what a difference that Special Effect can make – “The look on Henry’s face when he first used the eye-gaze to control something on screen was indescribable… for the first time he could play with something completely on his own. It was a landmark moment for us as a family.” Rob, Henry’s Dad.

CEO of SpecialEffect, Dr Mick Donegan commented – “We set up, create, lend and support the use of specialist games controllers from our library of equipment. Everyone we work with is different. Some of the people we work with find it difficult or impossible to control parts of their body other than their eyes. In these instances we use computers which are controlled just by moving your eyes.”

“The demand for this work is growing all the time, so we are asking the people to help SpecialEffect through crowdfunding. The PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES project will help us meet this growing demand and enable us to purchase this very special piece of eye-controlled equipment in order to reach and help more and more people with disabilities to play games”

The crowdfunding project PLAYING WITH YOUR EYES launches on Gambitious at 10am on 13th September 2013 and will run for 30 days until Saturday 12th October 2013 and you can watch the video and pledge your support here –

Rayman Legends 60 Second Review

Rayman Legends

The original Rayman (Rayman Origins) has become an integral part of any multiplayer video game party. It just works. Easy drop in and drop out multiplayer action always up to four players to work their way through many challenges. Drop out (Bubble yourself) and the rest can continue unhindered.

Rayman Legends is the sequel and we have put together a short video for you to get a feel for this great game.

We still find it amazing that many have neither heard of or played Rayman games. Those that do play, Soon get to grips with the frenetic multiplayer action. The award winning team of Ubisoft artists, designers and composers have taken the game to new heights.

In a nutshell this is what we love kids to play. Despite the peer pressure as they grow up here is a game that provides humorous game play, great characters and enough challenges to keep them interested for hours of game play.

Presentation – Visuals, Sound and Theme

The graphics are glorious, the sound track immersive and the overall feeling is one of a polished quality, fun game. As an occasional gamer throughout my years, this is the best of what I remember about great platform games. Except the controls, graphics and sound are beautiful and learning curve well thought through.

As far background; Rayman and our other heroes have taken a 100-year nap! Wouldn’t that be nice! However, this has allowed “The Nightmares” to infest the Glade of Dreams. Once Rayman and friends wake up they must set off on a new adventure to restore order to the universe. All before tea time!

Multiplayer in the Gamewagon

Up to four players can drop in and out during gameplay on the PS3 and Xbox. On the WiiU there is the possibility of five players (one using the game pad). It is a brilliant multiplayer game that challenges experienced Rayman players and new players.

There are also quick fire micro games and also daily online challenges that are great for pass the controller competitions amongst a small group of friends.

Hints and Tips

Keep you eyes peeled for locations often above / below and behind you that contain objects to collect as you work through the levels.

Do not forget the sprint (Right Trigger) and the ability to Double Jump and Fly by holding the jump button.

In the multi player modes use, Select (PS3) or back (Xbox), to bubble yourself and then any key to come back in. This is especially useful if you end up stuck or are lagging behind on a level.
