Photography, Privacy and Children’s Parties

We’re often asked why we don’t take photos at parties or post lots of party photos on social media.

Our approach

We don’t take photos at parties that include children.

This isn’t because photos aren’t important — they absolutely are — but because in group party settings, photography can quickly become more complicated than it appears.

Why we’ve made this decision

With the best will in the world, managing consent in children’s parties is complex. Parties often include children from multiple families, and it isn’t always possible to be completely certain that every parent or guardian has given informed consent for photography or sharing.

Once a photo is taken, it may be stored on a phone, backed up to cloud services, shared with family, or synced across multiple platforms. If images are later uploaded online, they can be copied, cached, or redistributed in ways that are difficult to fully control or reverse.

Rather than risk getting this wrong, we’ve chosen not to take photos ourselves and to leave photography entirely in parents’ hands.

Parents taking photos

Of course, we absolutely love parents taking their own photos and videos. We’re always happy to gather the children in front of the Gamewagon or VR Arena at the start or end of the session so families can capture group photos using their own phones or cameras.

By keeping photography in parents’ hands, families stay in control of where images are stored and how they’re shared — in whatever way they feel comfortable with.

Sharing images

We never share images of children unless they’ve already been shared publicly by the parent or party organiser.

Any photos shown in our gallery come from images parents have chosen to share publicly from their own parties.

And finally…

With all that said, please do take photos — and please do share the joy with your friends and families.
